A founding director, John has 30 years’ experience in engineering consulting. He has helped build NJM into a multi-disciplinary practice offering a wide array of services on a multitude of projects. His key focus now is guiding NJM through it’s next stage of growth and ensuring that it continues to provide excellent service to its many loyal clients. Company culture and the continued growth of all NJM team members is at the forefront of this expansion.
Rao Pamarthi
Director
A registered building practitioner with over 25 years’ experience in building services design and project management. Rao has worked on commercial, residential, civic and health care projects amongst many other sectors. He understands the realities of every project he works on and offers well-defined and cost-effective solutions. His inclusive and calm approach has resulted in a rapid expansion of NJM into different sectors as client’s feel comfortable dealing with him.
Nadine Freitag
Operations Manager
Nadine is NJM Design’s Operations Manager. She is responsible for managing the daily business operations including HR, IT, marketing, process development and improvements, and creating an enjoyable and inclusive working culture for everyone. She has over 7 years of experience working in businesses operations teams across London and Melbourne.
Her key focus is making sure the day-to-day activities of the company are on track whilst also detecting growing opportunities for the future. Her favourite part about working at NJM are the challenges and opportunities for growth as no 2 days are the same… and of course the awesome people!
Jason La Rocca
Associate
Jason began his career at NJM in 2005. He relocated to London and Europe in 2007 where he gained a broad range of valuable experience. He returned to NJM in 2009 and has steadily worked his way to Associate level. His key focus is ensuring quality control and maintaining client relationships. His favourite aspect of working at NJM is meeting new clients and collaborating with like-minded people. His experience at NJM has been nothing but positive and he looks forward to mentoring staff.
Olivia Koren
Associate
Olivia has extensive experience in the building services industry across Malaysia and Australia and has been with NJM Design for the past 7 years. She is a registered building practitioner and a member of Engineers Australia and has worked on a diverse range of projects in multiple sectors.
Her key focus at NJM is to foster and maintain client relationships, ensure communications flow between the various disciplines and focuses on delivering excellent outcomes for our clients. Olivia has been leading the Electrical Team and has formed great working relationships over the years.
Phil MacDonald
Associate
Phil MacDonald is the team leader of the mechanical services department. He is a senior mechanical engineer with over 25 years of experience, having worked on commercial projects in both the public and private sectors. His work has included the design of HVAC systems in hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, factories, aged care facilities, schools, and a range of other buildings. His projectshave been distributed across the country from Victoria through to far north Queensland. With a high competency in chiller design, HVAC design and BMS, Phil MacDonald is well placed to help the client with their mechanical services project.
Ian Moore
Associate
Ian is the team leader of the fire safety department. He has had over 30 years of experience as a fire and risk specialist developing fire safety strategies and risk assessments for buildings and infrastructure projects of all sizes. Risk management studies have involved communications facilities, stadiums, hospitals, traffic tunnels and Fire Brigade services. In addition, Ian has also been responsible for the development of various Fire Engineering Guidelines, education and research projects for the Fire Code Reform Centre, Australian Building Codes Board, Department of Justice and major retail corporations.
Ian's other areas of expertise are in fire investigation and material failures. He has been accepted as an expert witness in the County Court, Magistrates Court, Supreme Court and Coronial Inquiries throughout Australia.
Harry Maroulis
Hydraulics Lead
Harry's role is to provide our clients with innovative and cost-effective design solutions. As a Hydraulics Team Leader and Project Engineer, Harry has extensive experience in all aspects of hydraulic design ranging from residential, commercial and industrial developments.
He began his journey at NJM Design as a Junior Hydraulics Engineer in 2007 after completing a Bachelor in Construction Management at Deakin University and has worked his way into a Team Leader role. Harry enjoys building relationships with his colleagues, clients and other consultants and is always ready to take on a new challenge.
Michael Shaw
ESD Lead
Educated in both engineering and architecture, Michael Shaw is the ESD Team Leader at NJM Design. He has worked in government and in private consulting and has extensive experience in the application of environmental rating systems. He has delivered many training seminars for architects, engineers and building surveyors in the application of NCC Section J.
Michael is Green Star accredited and has experience in NABERS Energy benchmarking, Sustainability Management Plans, daylight and other modelling for Green Star and NCC performance solutions.
Branko Bojinovic
Fire Protection Lead
Branko joined NJM Design in 2016 and is the Fire Services team leader. He has a broad range of design experience within the Fire Services discipline and across different sectors, including high-rise residential developments and high-piled industrial storage risks.
He enjoys collaborating with clients to provide comprehensive and economical design solutions to challenging problems. With an emphasis on communication and detail, Branko is well-positioned for successful project delivery.
Wayan Keenan
Construction Manager
Wayan graduated with his Electrical Engineering degree in Darwin in 1987 and has since worked for government departments and consulting firms around Australia. He undertakes many inspections of building sites every month to ensure that the build quality is to standard. From his perspective, he can see that proper design and documentation is vital in ensuring that minimum problems arise on site. Based on this valuable perspective, he provides design feedback to the other staff members. Wayan believes that work should be fun and he encourages everyone to share a laugh whenever possible.
