A founding director, John has 30 years’ experience in engineering consulting. He has helped build NJM into a multi-disciplinary practice offering a wide array of services on a multitude of projects. His key focus now is guiding NJM through it’s next stage of growth and ensuring that it continues to provide excellent service to its many loyal clients. Company culture and the continued growth of all NJM team members is at the forefront of this expansion.
A registered building practitioner with over 25 years’ experience in building services design and project management. Rao has worked on commercial, residential, civic and health care projects amongst many other sectors. He understands the realities of every project he works on and offers well-defined and cost-effective solutions. His inclusive and calm approach has resulted in a rapid expansion of NJM into different sectors as client’s feel comfortable dealing with him.
Clare joined NJM design in June 2021 as the General Manager. She has over 15 years of experience in overseeing daily business activities in businesses both in Australia and England.
She has the experience and knowledge in implementing procedures and standards to ensure efficiency across the business, Her role at NJM will include improving the overall business functions, training staff, developing strategic plans, and communicating business goals.
Clare believes that communication is key to a successful business so welcomes open communication internally and externally.
Jason began his career at NJM in 2005. He relocated to London and Europe in 2007 where he gained a broad range of valuable experience. He returned to NJM in 2009 and has steadily worked his way to Associate level. His key focus is ensuring quality control and maintaining client relationships. His favourite aspect of working at NJM is meeting new clients and collaborating with like-minded people. His experience at NJM has been nothing but positive and he looks forward to mentoring staff.
Ian is the team leader of the fire safety department. He has had over 30 years of experience as a fire and risk specialist developing fire safety strategies and risk assessments for buildings and infrastructure projects of all sizes. Risk management studies have involved communications facilities, stadiums, hospitals, traffic tunnels and Fire Brigade services. In addition, Ian has also been responsible for the development of various Fire Engineering Guidelines, education and research projects for the Fire Code Reform Centre, Australian Building Codes Board, Department of Justice and major retail corporations.
Ian's other areas of expertise are in fire investigation and material failures. He has been accepted as an expert witness in the County Court, Magistrates Court, Supreme Court and Coronial Inquiries throughout Australia.
Siew Tai is the team leader of the electrical services department. He has over 25 years of experience working as an electrical engineer in both Malaysia and Australia. He has a broad range of design experience and have worked on projects across various sectors, such as residential, commercial, industrial, education and others.
His key focus is developing relationships with clients, architects, and the wider design team, while delivering projects within budget, time frames and to the satisfaction of clients.
The experience that Siew has coupled with the love for what he does, ensure the delivery of successful projects.
Harry's role is to provide our clients with innovative and cost-effective design solutions. As a Hydraulics Team Leader and Project Engineer, Harry has extensive experience in all aspects of hydraulic design ranging from residential, commercial and industrial developments.
He began his journey at NJM Design as a Junior Hydraulics Engineer in 2007 after completing a Bachelor in Construction Management at Deakin University and has worked his way into a Team Leader role. Harry enjoys building relationships with his colleagues, clients and other consultants and is always ready to take on a new challenge.
Branko joined NJM Design in 2016 and is the Fire Services team leader. He has a broad range of design experience within the Fire Services discipline and across different sectors, including high-rise residential developments and high-piled industrial storage risks.
He enjoys collaborating with clients to provide comprehensive and economical design solutions to challenging problems. With an emphasis on communication and detail, Branko is well-positioned for successful project delivery.
Gokul joined NJM Design in July 2018 as a Mechanical Engineer.
Gokul has a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering (Building Services stream) from Victoria University (graduated 2014).
His career background is building services engineering, with a particular interest in mechanical engineering and a strong focus on energy efficiency and its implementation from the early stages of a building’s design process. Due to his multi-disciplinary experience, client interactions/retention and management skills, and all-round knowledge of all aspects of the building services design process, he was promoted to a project engineer role in Jan 2020.
Key areas of his experience are residential, education, commercial and tenancy fit outs.
Raghad has over 14 years of experience as a mechanical engineer in the building industry. She has worked in a wide range of projects including civic, industrial, commercial & institutional buildings.
She has been responsible for leading multi-discipline projects throughout the design process through to construction phase, ensuring meeting and exceeding project requirements.
Raghad is a Registered Professional Engineer, member of Engineers Australia, AIRAH and a GreenStar accredited professional.
Jimmy joined NJM Design in June 2014 as a Building Services Drafter.
Jimmy has a Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Engineering.
In 2018 Jimmy became a Hydraulics Engineer. With his multi-disciplinary experience, client interactions, management style and all round knowledge he was promoted in 2022 to be the Team Leader of Hydraulics.
He has 7 years of experience mainly in designing hydraulic services and actively rotating to other departments including fire protection and electrical. Jimmy has worked on over 500 developments including residential, commercial, industrial, local council and educational.
